Bare is one of the greats of "Outlaw" country, having scored million-selling hits in the 1960s with the likes of 'Detroit City' and '500 Miles Away from Home'. Bare dedicated Cowboys and Daddys to the modern-day cowboy. Highlights included the bittersweet title cut, Tom T. Hall's 'The Cowboy and the Poet (Faster Horses)' and Ray Hubbard's 'Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother'.

For Me and McDill, Bare cut eleven songs by prolific hit making songwriter Bob McDill, including 'If You Think I'm Crazy Now (You Should Have Seen Me When I Was a Kid)' and 'Look Who I'm Cheating on Tonight'.
