Description
Millicent Martin's West End, Broadway, recording, TV and film career has spanned six decades and Sepia is proud to release her debut solo CD!
British actress Millicent Martin made her Broadway debut with Julie Andrews in the 1954 production of 'The Boy Friend'. In London's West End she has starred in stage musicals such as 'Expresso Bongo', 'The Crooked Mile', 'Our Man Crichton' and 'Side By Side By Sondheim'. Millie's other Broadway credits include '42nd Street' and 'Side By Side By Sondheim' for which she received a Tony Award nomination. In the early 1960s Millie became known to TV audiences as the resident singer of topical songs on the weekly satire show 'That Was The Week That Was'. She also starred in the 1966 film 'Alfie' and the film musical of 'Stop The World I Want To Get Off'. In the mid-1960s Millie hosted her own BBC TV series called 'Mainly Millicent' that ran for 3 years. In recent years she has appeared as Gertrude Moon, Daphne's mother, in the TV sit-com Frasier and a U.S resident today, Millie works a lot for the Disney Channel in shows like 'The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody' and Jonas. The 20 tracks on this CD were recorded in the late 1950s.
