Della Mae takes a bold step forward with 'Headlight', produced by Dan Knobler. Boldly breaking genre convention, the Grammy Award-nominated band have pushed beyond their bluegrass roots and followed their instincts to create their most sonically adventurous body of work to date.

Della Mae - lead vocalist/guitarist Celia Woodsmith, 2-time national champion fiddle player Kimber Ludiker, mandolinist Jenni Lyn Gardner, and upright bassist Zoe Guigueno - have fully embraced the album's potential as a platform for change, delivering a collection of 12 songs at turns fearlessly personal and powerfully resonant. As their most collaborative work yet, the album features an exceptional lineup of guest musicians, often contributing on instruments entirely new to Della Mae's output: keys, drums, electric guitar.

Opening on its title track, "Headlight" sets the tone of the album with a potent message of perseverance in the face of adversity. Channeling a triumphant energy in its soaring vocals and marching drumbeats, which ultimately celebrates the power of that ineffable courage, providing both strength and solace in one simply articulated refrain ("They might not believe you/But I do").

Throughout 'Headlight', Della Mae imbue their songs with the unshakable sense of purpose they've embodied since first getting together. Formed in Boston in 2009, with ambitions of disrupting the male-dominated music scene, the band has proven undeniably ahead of their time in placing women at the forefront.

"From the beginning this band has been about reclaiming or changing the conversation for women, especially those whose stories haven't been told," explains Ludiker. "Advocating for women's rights is the backbone of this band, and we realised that adding public service work to our touring was an important way we could make a difference."

"Della Mae sound like a band brimming with confidence in their musicianship and songwriting, with damn good reason. Headlight walks unafraid in the direction of a better world, offering solace and songs to sing along to. Follow them and feel your spirit renewed." - Highway Queens

"Woodsmith says that the album is their contribution to keep up the tradition of trail-blazing women and 'leave the world a better place than when we found it'. It'll certainly brighten yours." - Folk Radio UK

"These musicians mean business, their very name a reminder of the physical abuse of women through history and woe betide those unwilling to pay attention. Della Mae's versatility is not only demonstrated in their abundant instrumental prowess and Woodsmith's dominating voice, but also in their straddling of styles...It's been five years, but it's been worth the wait." - Northern Sky Reviews

"Nashville based all-female string band continue to push the boundaries of modern country music with their latest and fifth album "Headlight." Full of stories highlighting the way that women have changed the world, for the better and continue to do so, this is an album that illuminates the road to modern country music." - FATEA

"Headlight exhibits a spirit of determination and hope, showing Della Mae moving in new directions whilst giving a nod to their traditional roots." - Americana UK
