    'Kindred Spirits: A Collection' is a 19 track set that contains a selection of tunes from Carrie Newcomer's 12 releases on Rounder. Included are two previously unreleased tracks "The Speed of Soul", which opens that album, and "A Long Christmas Dinner". There are also two live tracks that are currently unavailable: "Sparrow" and "Bare to the Bone" which closes the album. Two songs from her hunger benefit project Everything is Everywhere featuring Indian sarod players Ayaan and Amaan Ali Khan are contained as well.

    Carrie Newcomer is an American singer-songwriter/guitarist who has been described by Billboard Magazine as "a soaring songstress". She has received numerous awards for her music ranging from writing Grammy winner compositions to multiple Album and Artist of the Year accolades from Folk Wax Magazine. Carrie has been chosen as one of the 50 most important singer-songwriters of the last half century. She has toured around the world performing with label mates Alison Krauss and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Also heavily involved in charitable work, Newcomer gives a percentage of her album sales to organizations such as the Interfaith Hunger Initiative and The Center for Courage and Renewal. The striking cover art on 'Kindred Spirits' features the work of Hugh Syme and captures Newcomer's belief about finding miracles in common places.
