Description
This reissued title from 1970 was originally released on the legendary MPS label and sees two tenor saxophone masters reunite in the studio for a highly sprited, swinging session. A decade or so earlier Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Johnny Griffin had laid down some dynamic recordings for another label, Prestige, and this fresh installment carries on as if the pair had never parted.
Joining the two protagonists were the ryhthm section of one of the most highly respected European Jazz orchestra's, The Kenny Clarke - Francy Boland Big Band. The resulting music laid down by this quintet is therefore just as it should be and includes the infectious groove of the opener "Again 'N' Again", the epic "Tin Tin Deo" and the ballads "If I Had You" and "When We Were One".
Reissue label Promising Music has repackaged the album in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with both original and new sleeve notes and is 24bit re-mastered from the original master tapes.
