  • Description

'Pad Up (Get Ready)' is guitarist Cameron Pierre's fifth album release, and his first on Courtney Pine's Destin-E Records label. Produced by Courtney Pine, it is Cameron's first straight-ahead jazz record. His Caribbean roots shine through on the album, and the well-chosen covers display a sense of both the past and the now, creating a fresh yet traditional sound.

Complementing Cameron's electric guitar is Swedish Hammond organist Anders Olinder, American drummer/percussionist Rod Youngs, and Courtney himself on baritone sax. Although born in London, Cameron Pierre was raised on the Caribbean island of Dominica. working with Jamaican artists including Clint Eastwood and General Saint, Barrington Levy and Dennis Brown he moved to London and became a regular on the jazz, reggae and calypso circuits. He has toured world-wide with Courtney Pine in both his reggae and jazz outfits, as well as working with many other high-profile musicians, including Bheki Mseleku, Julian Joseph, Jazz Jamaica, Larry Adler, and Juliet Roberts.

Cameron can be heard on Courtney Pine's albums: 'To The Eyes Of Creation', 'Underground', 'Back In The Day' and 'Devotion'. Courtney Pine says of him: "Cameron Pierre is one of the finest musicians I have met. He has that elusive quality of being able to play the past, present and future styles of jazz. Without a doubt he is the finest jazz guitarist to be produced by Great Britain".

Personnel: Cameron Pierre (electric guitar), Anders Olinder (Hammond organ), Rod Youngs (drums/percussion), Courtney Pine (baritone saxophone, tracks 4,10)
