Corky Siegel was a guiding force behind Chicago's Siegel-Schwall Blues Band, one of the most beloved acts from the American blues boom of the late '60s and 1970s. His search for a link between classical music and blues began when he befriended, performed and recorded with symphony conductor Seiji Ozawa. Formed in 1989, Chamber Blues is the remarkable culmination of Siegel's exploration.
It is a mesmerizing showcase of intricate compositions and outstanding musicianship.The music is both playful and dramatic and the performances are inspired throughout. And as classification-shattering as the Chamber Blues concept is, the results are listener-friendly while still honouring both musical genres.
