The French composer Melanie Bonis (1858-1937) came from a bourgeois Parisian family with no musical background, which was initially extremely sceptical about her musical ambitions.
Despite all family and social adversities, she was able to realise her talent at least within the bounds of what was possible at the time and left behind a considerable musical oeuvre.
The immense joy that Myriam Barbaux-Cohen felt in discovering and playing is immediately transferred to the listener in this recording for ARS PRODUKTION.
