GUEST POST: Introducing Transistor Music
By now, I'm sure that regular Propermusic.com customers have heard the news that Transistor Music has come on board to work with Propermusic and host the new store on our platform, whilst operating on the www.propermusic.com website domain. Practically speaking, that means Transistor Music will manage this website and be interfacing with customers on a daily basis, so we thought it was only right that we pop over and introduce ourselves!
Transistor Music launched its inaugural webstore in June of this year, performing as the Direct-To-Fan platform within a family of UK businesses that include Sound Performance, a leading manufacturer for vinyl, CD, DVD, books and box sets, and The Flood Gallery, specialists in limited edition gig posters, movie posters and art prints. We've spent the first several months of our existence setting up our offerings and processes and, once the relaunch of Propermusic.com is complete, we're set to follow them on a brand spanking new retail platform ourselves.
Our philosophy and inspirations are the same right now as they were four months ago: at Transistor Music we believe that the greatest way to experience music is by having the release in your hands.
Our platform is a unique music marketplace. For all of us that would rather stroke a record than stream it, there's the chance to browse our curated collection of box sets and deluxe reissues. While we at Transistor Music offers unparalleled service in delivery, customer support and competitive pricing, across those items, we're most proud of our Transistor Music-exclusive projects and products.
Our first Transistor Music exclusive box set project took place with metal legend's Saxon, with Transistor Music being the exclusive retailer of The Eagle Has Landed 40 (Live) - 747 Signature Edition, with only 747 copies produced. As the pièce de résistance of this landmark Saxon live release, the set included 747 print of Biff Byford's original hand-written lyric sheet of the "747 (Strangers In The Night)" song, with each print being hand-numbered and autographed by the man himself, and a 23-plectrum set featuring album artwork from all 22 Saxon studio albums.
Using our unique proximity to the artist, the label and the production company, we were able to fortify the customer's anticipation towards release with a bevvy of competitions, video blogs from Biff and behind-the-scenes articles on our Saxon 747 Live Storefront.
We also strive to provide this kind of unparalleled access to your favourite artists via our Pre-Order Campaigns, regularly offering signed items, engaging content and artist experiences.
We're currently running new album pre-order campaigns Storefronts for artists from glam rock legend Michael Monroe (which included a limited edition exclusive signed yellow glitter vinyl!) to Ireland's best-kept secret, pop-rockers Keywest, signed to Marshall Records.
Beyond the box sets and album campaigns, we're offering an ever-growing range of live albums, limited edition books, art posters and screen prints.
We're especially proud of the Super Furry Animals Radiator 2019 Art Print, where, in partnership with Super Furry Animals and acclaimed artist/illustrator Pete Fowler, Transistor Music and The Flood Gallery exclusively commissioned, produced and retailed this limited edition print of the classic Super Furry Animals Radiator album cover.
What we're most excited about with our move to the new platform this autumn is the launch of the Transistor Music Blog. We're going to be using our position -- knees-deep in the Direct-To-Fan process -- to create features, interviews, unboxing videos and exclusive articles that will bring you closer to these releases. Not only closer to the artists themselves but closer to the unsung heroes of labels, management and creative teams who design, conceive and produce the box sets we love to slide open.
With the new platform, we've also got big plans in place for loyalty and support incentives we can offer our most dedicated Superfans, building a unique retail community for music lovers and record collectors alike.
