Once called one of the "best indie bands you've never heard of", Queer Jane is a three-piece from Bratislava, Slovakia, trying its best to break your heart with catchy melodies and rich harmonies. The group is fronted by singer-songwriter Vlado Nosal, who considers himself to be "a full-time musician dedicating his free time to work in advertising 8 hours a day". He plays the guitar and "a bit of everything" on Queer Jane's records, most of which he also produces. His collaborations outside Queer Jane include co-writing and singing on Mini Album Thingy Wingy, a 2015 record by the legendary US neo-psychedelic band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Queer Jane have released three albums, all of which have been highly acclaimed by Slovak music press, with critics calling them "the hidden sensation of Slovak alternative scene" and highlighting Nosal's "enviable instinct for melodies and poetry". Their best-known track, A Happy Drunk, became a surprise success on Spotify with more than 630 000 streams. A cautionary folk song about the potential danger of "drinking not being fun any more" was recorded on a four-track cassette before making its way into Spotify editorial Acoustic Rock playlist in 2019. The title of the single "Gerard Love" refers to the ex-member of Teenage Fanclub. "He has written plenty of great love songs and I began to wonder if it has something to do with his surname", says Vlad.
