Tim Freedman is a singer/songwriter from Sydney, best known at home as the lead singer of The Whitlams, an Australian Recording Industry Group of the Year with a trio of platinum albums. His songs of well-crafted charming cynicism can sound as if Randy Newman had joined Crowded House. LITTLE CLOUD was released in Australia as The Whitlams’ sixth album, where it entered the mainstream charts at number 4, and has been warmly received by the critics with 4 and 5 star reviews all around the country. It is being released in the UK under Freedman's own name because Tim will start touring solo with just his piano in Europe, and will be recording more music under his own name in the near future. Tim’s solo performances in Australia are renowned for a mixture of caustic wit and delicate piano. The Whitlams’ success has always been about the emotional clout of the songs, so it was no surprise when demand rocketed for the performances where the songs were presented without their rock adornments. In response he conducted a national solo tour with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in 2003, the only contemporary artist apart from Neil Finn to be accorded this honour.
