Roth is one of the most important performers of Weinberg's music, as he's also the initiator and member of board of the International Mieczyslaw Weinberg Society. The Sonatas for Solo Violin are committing pieces that speak of the intimate life of Weinberg (a bit like Shostakovich's String Quartets): not easy-listening, but rewarding for its quality and complexity.
