The Many Sides Of Buck Owens
Compact Disc (Audio)
No of Discs:
A 30-song compliation of the singer, musician and composer Buck Owens - and the numerous country and rockabilly classics enriched with his guitar playing and singing. CD in a three-part digisleeve with credits and liner notes by DJ Mark Armstrong. A native Texan, Alvis Edgar Owens jr, better known as Buck Owens, was an important pioneer of the "Bakersfield Sound" in northeast Los Angeles. As a guitarist, he was oriented towards rock'n'roll. He is known less for his own band Schoolhouse Playboys than for his work as a studio musician for Capitol Records and the Lu-Tal Studio. Fifteen of the songs here were published under Owens own name; the rest, by performers like Corky Jones, Bill Woods, Rose Maddox, Wanda Jackson and his singing wife Bonnie Owens, are supported by Owens guitar playing and vocals. Owens was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996. He remained, throughout, a modest man, once stating:"I'd like to be remembered as a guy that came along and did his music, did his best and showed up on time, clean and ready to do the job, wrote a few songs and had a hell of a time."
