  • Description

Strange Ranger (fka Sioux Falls) is an Indie-Rock / Post-Punk band from Montana, now based out of Portland, Oregon. Formed by Isaac Eiger and Fred Nixon and solidified by the duos mutual love of early Mod- est Mouse, the bands breakthrough debut full-length, the sprawling Rot Forever, was named one of Consequence of Sounds Top 50 Albums of 2016. Later that year, the follow-up EP, Sunbeams Through Your Head, was cited as one of Stereogums Great EPs from 2016 and lead to Strange Rangers inclu- sion in the publications list of Best New Bands. O ver the course of last Winter, Strange Ranger recorded its sophomore full-length, Daymoon. Naturally evolving from the expansiveness of Rot Forever in favor of a smarter and more focused approach, the album transmits as something uniquely hushed and organic. While previous material felt more like a band exploring numerous diverse avenues, Daymoon pulls back and showcases heightened attention to detail. Still, the honest, heart-on-sleeve songwriting remains, even if the band has chosen subtler paths to deliver its message. Daymoon is a tasteful and nuanced evolution for Strange Ranger - one that will undoubtedly serve as a bridge to the bands con- tinuing and singular evolution.
