The Haddington Turnpike: And Other Great Pipe Tunes

The Haddington Pipe Band under the direction of Pipe Major David Leckie is a community band from the East Lothian 'market town' of Haddington. The Band and Committee are highly regarded for their outstanding work within the Lothians and beyond and were recognised for this by being voted 'Pipe Band of The Year' at The Scots Trad Awards 2009. The Band is joined on some tracks by fellow East Lothian artists: Coreen Scott (singer); Caitlin Bruce (harp); Jimmy Wilson (accordion); and members of the Musselburgh and Fisherrow Trades Band. The album is named after the tune 'The Haddington Turnpike' composed by Dr. Bruce Thomson who won the Haddington Pipe Band competition to find an East Lothian 'anthem' in the year of Homecoming Scotland. The Band has strong links with Haddington's twin town in France, Aubigny-sur-Nere. This album follows the Greentrax policy of supporting local artists and projects.
