To celebrate 10 years of the top rated TG4 series Geantraí, Gael Linn has worked with Forefront Productions to pick 19 of the best performances from the show for this CD release. In the last 10 years a very comprehensive collection of music has been compiled, all of it recorded live in pub settings throughout Ireland, as well as in England, Scotland and the United States. The production team work in packed pubs with all the obvious difficulties but believe that this approach comes nearer to portraying the genuine pub session, song or dance, than any previous attempts. The comprehensive selection of both instrumental music and song on these recordings represents a diversity of performing styles, repertoire and instrumentation, as well as of geographic locality. In all 50 musicians and three singers are featured performing a total of 38 tunes and three songs.
