This box with 7 CDs collates the original five volumes (including the original booklets), of the Mozart String Quartet recordings by the Armida Quartett, released between 2016 and 2022.
Mozart's string quartet output can be easily divided into two groups: on the one hand, the thirteen early works written by a teenager, and the ten "celebrated" Viennese masterpieces on the other.
Mozart's early string quartets are brimming with endless variety of imagination, with the pleasure of experimenting, and the sheer joy of music- making; meanwhile, each movement of the "ten celebrated quartets" (Alfred Einstein) is a unique masterpiece in its own right.
