Description
Born in New York of Sicilian parents, Carmen Cavallaro showed an interest in the piano from an early age. Despite a classical training, he made his living from playing Saturday night dance dates with a variety of bands, the big break coming in 1933 when with the Al Kavelin Orchestra, he took over from Eddy Duchin at New York's Central Park Casino. He became the star attraction and his career blossomed, eventually going solo in 1939.
But leaving the orchestral material behind, Cavallaro was a master ofthe "tinkling piano", the kind to be heard late at night in cocktail lounges and night-clubs, providing a romantic setting for those in such a mood. And That is what we have here, 24 "tinkling" tracks, over 70 minutes of atmospheric mood music.
