  • Description

A stunning debut by 24 years old chinese pianist Yang Yang Cai.

Cai has selected six very diversified works by Liszt, in order to convey all her pianistic qualities: prowess and virtuosity, but also philosophical insight and colouristic finesse.

Yang Yang Cai (1998) is a Chinese-Dutch pianist based in The Netherlands. She has performed widely throughout The Netherlands. She began playing the piano at the age of five with Noor Relijk. Subsequently she continued her piano studies with renowned professor Jan Wijn. After working with him for ten years, she completed her bachelor's degree in piano with the highest final mark at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in May 2019. Yang Yang is currently studying with Enrico Pace at the prestigious Accademia Pianistica di Imola in Italy and with Frank Van Der Laar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

"...dutch pianist Yang Yang Cai (24) is now the age of that spirituality-hungry composer. You can hear that in her style, which seeks dialogue with the spirit of the mysterious Liszt with wonder and playful curiosity... her playing floats uninhibitedly - though no less characterfully - through the space." - FIVE STARS, NRC

"Cai scores her greatest success in the Apparitions. She is heartfelt and intense in the obsessive wheeling around a single idea in 'Il lamento'" – International Piano
