Description
The core of this compilation was originally released by County Records in 1969 as "Mountain Banjo Songs & Tunes", the first collection of pre-war country music banjo performances ever issued. The underlying theme of the collection was that there was no single "old-time" banjo style but rather an astounding variety of approaches to playing the five-string banjo. This revised presentation carries that point even further with additional performances and greatly improved remastering. Well represented in this compilation are artists from Texas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee. -
