Description
Inspired by the New York quintets of the early '60s, particularly those of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, German bassist Holger Scheidt presents a thematic cycle of six composition in tribute to what was probably jazz's most fertile period.
Based in New York, Holger Scheidt and his American musicians (all New Yorker's) have garnered critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic as one of today's most engaging contemporary groups.
Gordon Au is one of a new generation of trumpet players and known for his work with Danilo Perez and Joe Lovano; pianist Victor Gould is a member of the Wallace Roney Quintet; saxophonist Rich Perry is a veteran of big bands and small groups and currently a member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra; Anthony Pinciotti is known as a multi genre drummer and percussionist operating in rock and world music as well as jazz. Among the many jazz musicians he's associated with are Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Sheila Jordon, Randy Brecker and Mose Allison.
