Description
With this new album Laurie Lewis continues the path she started on the critically acclaimed 'Guest House' CD. She and longtime partner Tom Rozum keep the core band from that release and add bass player Todd Phillips. The Golden West features Lewis' distinctive blend of styles: bluegrass, old-timey, folk and country. And not only does she provide a variety of styles, but lead vocalists as well. Laurie is featured on her brilliant original "Your Eyes", Scott sings lead on the crowd pleasing "Hard Luck In Heaven", Tom is featured on the Billy Joe Shaver classic "Live Forever", and Linda Ronstadt joins for harmony vocals on "Rank Stranger" and "A Hand To Hold". Laurie Lewis is a pioneer woman in bluegrass, counting Ralph Stanley among her fans and helping pave the way for Alison Krauss. She is the winner of many old-time fiddle contests, twice voted female vocalist of the year by the IBMA, and was the winner of a Grammy for her participation in 'True Life Blues: The Songs Of Bill Monroe'. -
