Active since the mid 40s, Miles Davis had built an illustrious career, and by the time of this live performance at Uppsala Universitet, Sweden, November 7th 1971 - broadcast on Sveriges radio - he was decisively recognized as the most inventive and significant jazz artist the world had ever seen. On the way, Davis had performed live worldwide and had already released 45 studio albums, including Bitches Brew (1970) and Jack Johnson (1971), and was on course to release his 46th album Live-Evil later that month. It'd be hard to find anyone who didn't know the name, Miles Davis.
