HYBRID SUPER AUDIO CD, COMPATIBLE WITH ALL CD PLAYERS. Luthomania is a trio of lute players: Xia Hua, originally from Beijing, who plays the p'i-p'a (Chinese lute), Abid El Bahri, originally from Morocco, who plays an 'ud, and Philippe Malfeyt, a Belgian who plays a Western lute. Together they blend Chinese, Arabic and European elements into a harmonious mixed marriage. This new album is less ethnic than their debut release, PERIPLES. This is a more accessible blend of world music, baroque, improvised music and jazz with additional musicians on cello, harmonica, saxophone, accordion, bandoneon and percussion. The recordings were made by Belgian classical radio KLARA.
