Guitarist Russell Malone is one of the most compelling and versatile musicians in jazz today. On his MAXJAZZ string series release, "Triple Play," Malone plays with great expression and swinging energy. "Triple Play" represents the first trio recording of his illustrious career and his fourth release for MAXJAZZ. Accompanying him are bassist David Wong and drummer Montez Coleman. When not on the road touring with his own group, Malone is an integral member of bands led by Grammy Award-winning artists including bassist Ron Carter (as part of his Golden Stryker Trio with label-mate Mulgrew Miller), saxophonist Sonny Rollins and vocalist Dianne Reeves. -
