This new recording is part of 'The Blue Series'; unique music portraits of the most interesting personalities of the International Chopin Piano Competition. Fourteen Japanese players participated in the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in October 2021. It proved a good edition for Japan, which had not been able to boast of a laureate since 2005, but here produced two: Kyohei Sorita (second prize ex quo) and Aimi Kobayashi (fourth prize ex quo).
Among others upholding the fine tradition of Chopin playing in Japan was Miyu Shindo, of whom Jakub Puchalski wrote in the Chopin Courier, 'Shindo came across as a virtuosic pianist of immense dexterity whose scales are smooth', and who played with a great deal of character.
'The most meticulously refined sonata of the session' was how Jakub Puchalski (reviewing in the Chopin Courier) summarised Shindo's performance of the Sonata in B minor, Op. 58, and any pianist achieving such a performance of this great work has to have cleared many hurdles.
Born on 26 April 2002 in Japan, Shindo is studying at the Central Music School in Moscow with Valery Piassetsky. She has performed at such venues as the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as in Japan, China, Austria and Italy.
She has worked with such ensembles as the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra and Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra of Beijing.
