Description
This CD represents a collaboration between two of the top European traditional jazzbands in the '50s: PAPA BUE'S VIKING JAZZBAND from Denmark and GRAHAM STEWART AND HIS NEW ORLEANS BAND from England.More than that, the CD is a very unusual compilation, since all the tunes are either rags or marches - two musical genres, essential to traditional jazz, which not only pre-date the advent of jazz music but also have their roots in the 19th Century European musical tradition. The twenty tunes here were all recorded in Copenhagen between 1958 and 1962, 14 numbers with Papa Bue, two with Graham Stewart's band and four where the two bands join forces. This CD is a goldmine for trad' jazz lovers to go back where it all began!
