  • Description

Wild Sound is proud to announce the release of a startling debut album from observant young singer-songwriter Harry Harris. Young-body old-spirit singer-songwriter Harry Harris releases his debut album recorded when he was just 17. His self-titled debut reveals a lyrical maturity beyond his tender years. In folk tradition; inspired by his upbringing listening to Van Morrison, Paul Simon and John Martyn, yet with a contemporary edge influenced by his discovery of American alternative rock such as Counting Crows and Eels, the album is an album of stories. Stories about walks at midnight in late Summer with fireworks clattering in the sky; about a grief stricken farmer pacing wildly around a horse in foal on the roughest night of the year; about Annie Brown and the man who loved her. Stories about simple things. Since 2006 when his home-recorded demos caught the ear of critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter Polly Paulusma, he's toured the UK, played headline shows in Italy, opened for Anais Mitchell, Devon Sproule and Liam Gerner and squeezed in a film degree all at the same time. "I never really stopped writing, I just started writing different things. There's a story at the heart of everything I do, that's never changed." It's a diversion that proved to be very fruitful. Harry has starred in independent feature film Echo Restless, become a leading contributor for hugely popular lifestyle website Sabotage Times - under the tutelage of former NME editor James Brown - and performed songs about London as part of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic celebrations. He's also been writing, a lot, and is thrilled to announce he's signed a record deal with independent label Wild Sound Recordings - headed up by long-time collaborator Polly Paulusma. The first release will be Harry's self-titled debut, which Polly produced when Harry was just 17.
