Playing In Traffic

Davy Graham was without doubt an essential figure in the British Folk Revival of the 1960's- inspiring Bert Jansch, Martin Carthy and John Martyn to name but a few. Famed for his unique guitar-tuning and his effortless free flowing instrumentals his influence reaches right up to the present day. An elusive musician who really wasn't interested in the trappings of fame and fortune "you can sell your anonymity, but you cannot buy it back" was his reply to Paul Simon when he was asked to join his group back in 1964! Although there have been many Davy Graham compilations within the Blues Guitar and Folk Routes genres, Playing In Traffic was his penultimate 'official' album. Released in 1993 it was certainly an album that heralded a return to form after an absence of some fifteen years and yet disappeared from the radar- until now! This lost masterpiece now sees the light of day and adds yet another twist to this mysterious and enigmatic figure that has remained a cult hero to so many true music lovers. Twenty one beautifully haunting, arabesque, blues compositions accompanied by occational 'worldly' vocals have at long last been given another chance to shine......... (Davey Graham died in Dec 2008).
