Description
FRENCH BAND BEAT MARK TEAM UP WITH BRITISH BAND THE PROPER ORNAMENTS ON A SPLIT 7" SINGLE THAT REPRESENTS THEIR FRIENDSHIP BUILT OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.
"Flowers" by Beat Mark is a lovely indie-pop gem that recalls their debut LP "Howls of Joy" released in 2010. Built on the layered vocals of Karin Schlageter and Julien Perez paired with the same shiny yet gentle guitar that evokes the subtle sound of Orange Juice or Aztec Camera, it's delicate and fresh as a daisy.
"Two Weeks" is everything we love about The Proper Ornaments, the lush harmonies of Max Claps (Let's Wrestle) and James Hoare (Veronica Falls, Ultimate Painting), a Byrdsian jangly guitar and something very reminiscant of the pop side of The Velvet Underground. This 7" on Croque Macadam encapsulates the best of both bands, strictly limited to 350 copies, it should be sold-out pretty soon.
PREVIOUS PRAISE FOR BEAT MARK AND THE PROPER ORNAMENTS:
"Beat Mark may not be doing anything new here, but they do what they do perfectly, and that makes them a special band, and this album a vital addition to anyone's noise-pop collection." - Allmusic
"It's sexy and dishevelled, charismatic and sweet. It'll stick in your head and make you smile every time you realise it has once again landed on your internal jukebox. It's almost impossible not to like it." Louder than War
"As humble, tastefully appointed psych-pop goes, the Proper Ornaments surely have their heartsand heads, wooden or notin the right place." Pitchfork
