This is Tim Grimm's fifth solo album and his first for CoraZong Records. Like Tim's previous releases, this record is flavoured by its rural Midwest (of USA) perspective. The production is simple but effective. Tim records his songs live with guitar and vocal, and then layers instruments and voices to suit the song. Utilizing his good friend Jason Wilber (of the John Prine Band) on electric guitar, banjo and on one track, piano, Grimm draws the listener in with his well-crafted story-telling songs. Guest musicians include fellow CoraZong artists Krista Detor and Jennie Devoe. Thematically, the album is a further examination of what it means to be human. At the core of the songs are anguish, uncertainty and yearning, observed through the lens of this very thoughtful and empathetic master Americana story-teller. Tim Grimm walks that fine line between folk and country. Critics searching for comparisons most often cite Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie and (Nebraska era) Bruce Springsteen.
