  • Description

A soulful singer and guitar player, the music of Ash Grunwald is steeped in the Delta blues tradition of the legendary acoustic musicians who proliferated in pre-World War II America's deep South and the giants of electric blues who shaped rock and roll. It's his willingness to combine these influences with grooves and sounds common in contemporary music that sets him apart. Drawn to the blues from an early age, Ash learned to play the music of Robert Johnson, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells. Later discovering electric blues, soul and funk in the form of Albert King, Freddie King, BB King, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Tony Joe White and Aretha Franklin. Influences that are evident in his music today. Ash has performed as a special guest for international performers including Gomez, Cat Empire, the legendary Bo Diddley and one and only James Brown. He will be performing at festivals across the UK throughout June and July.
