Description
Following on from their 2011 Future Trad Collective CD (alongside Michael McGoldrick), Andy Dinan and Ian Fletcher teamed up to make an album that brought together their many musical influences. (Having collectively played and collaborated with Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds, Michael McGoldrick Big Band, Tori Amos, Faith Evans, Eat Static and Hossam Ramzy amongst many others).
Their contemporary take on old traditional tunes sit alongside new compositions and improvisations which flow over the uplifting rhythms and they have produced an album of great energy and drive. With Richard Sliwa (Doves, The Charlatans and De Danann) and Jon Thorne (Lamb, Trilok Gurtu), who effectively pioneered the use of double bass in Electronic music, coming on board the following year - it seemed perfect sense to form DUCIE.
Ducie explores many different musical influences ranging from Irish, Breton, Scottish, Eastern European, Blues, Reggae, Flamenco, Indian and Funk.
Troy Donockley and Michael McGoldrick are but two of the guest musicians on an album where they take obscure traditional tunes from the Celtic world and beyond over a broad musical landscape, intertwining electronica influences with driving Afro-Brazillian and Afro-Cuban percussion.
