Description
The debut album from Peter Edwards, a rising star on the UK jazz scene who has established himself as a pianist, bandleader, musical director, composer and arranger of note, through his work with Zara McFarlane, Abram Wilson and others.'Safe and Sound', features eight original compositions ranging from the intricately layered opening track "Triple Threat" that immediately reveals the special rapport between the trio, to the Afro-Latin tinged "Meet You at El Malecón" and the subtle drum and bass of the title track as well as a spirited interpretation of Thelonious Monk's "I Mean You".
Edwards graduated with a Masters in Jazz from Trinity College of Music before recording and touring with the Abram Wilson quartet. He has worked with Rhythmica, the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Nicola Emmanuelle and has co-written and arranged tracks on Zara McFarlane's acclaimed albums 'Until Tomorrow' and 'If You Knew Her'.
In 2010 Edwards formed his piano trio with Max Luthert on bass and Moses Boyd on drums, both also highly respected British musicians. Luthert co-leads the band Partikel and plays with musicians such as Benet McClean and Gareth Lockrane, while Boyd is a member of the Jay Phelps Quartet, Denys Baptiste's Triumvirate and Gary Crosby's Groundation.
