Description
BETWEEN LINES is the second album from Jonathan Bratoëff, a London based guitarist and composer from France. The band features Seb Rochford and Pete Wareham who along with Jonathan are members of Londons award winning F-IRE collective. Jonathan, Pete and Seb studied at The School for Improvisational Music in New York with musicians Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Alessi and Jason Moran. The Jonathan Bratoëff Quartet has developed a unique sound and vibe characterised by raw emotional intensity, loose interaction and tight arrangements and themes. This is the cream of young UK talent - all band leaders and composers in their own right (Pete with Acoustic Ladyland and Seb with Polar Bear); and already well established and in demand on the UK jazz scene. The quartet has performed at all of the main London venues as well as the Ealing Jazz Festival, and has also toured in France and Spain. BETWEEN LINES is released to coincide with the Exhibition Road Music Day on 21st June 2005 where Jonathan can be seen performing on the F-IRE stage in
Hyde Park. "Bratoëff's compositions look to hard bop and M-Base for inspiration but are
utterly unique" - Jazzwise
