Lux
Description
Like her previous highly praised album, 'Rite', which comprised of self-composed songs set in a landscape of experimental electronica, 'Lux' follows a similar route, but with material drawn from religious folk songs presented in an extraterrestrial like soundscape provided by the duo Draup who play on glass. The music is an exploration of dark and powerful religious folk songs with text that revolves around humble people, death and hope. Løvlid has performed works by contemporary composers such as Arne Nordheim, Ørjan Matre and Maja Ratkje, and has collaborated on concerts with the noise duo, Fe-Mail.
"Løvlid's voice is pure and direct, completely at ease with all the changing moods." - Fiona Talkington, BBC Radio 3
Personnel: Unni Løvlid (vocals), Håkon Thelin (double bass), Randi-Merete Roset (glass), Liv-Jorun (glass)
