  • Description

'The Transcendentalist' is the highly anticipated follow-up album to Serbian-American pianist Ivan Ilic's award winning album 22 Chopin Studies by Leopold Godowsky and his first for Heresy Records.

A hypnotically beautiful recording of meditative music that traces the links between the piano works of Alexander Scriabin and the American avant-garde, particularly John Cage and Morton Feldman. Underlying the music on the album is the philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalists whose ideas influenced these composers.

The album includes the world premiere recording of brooklyn-based composer Scott Wollschleger's Music Without Metaphor.

"His playing is brilliant and luminous...an outstanding pianist" Piano News

"A pianist of real personality, his name is one to remember" Le Monde de la Musique
