Description
Rott 'n' Roll has become a catchphrase for Grayson Capps' fans to use in describing his music. It expresses the raw energy of Grayson's songs that blend backwards rock, southern soul and country blues with tales of prostitutes, alcoholics, drifters and paranoia. On his fourth album, Grayson and his band The Stumpknockers, churn and burn harder than ever. Raucous numbers like "Big Black Buzzard", "The Sun Don't Shine On Willy" and "Going Back To The Country" are instant classics in the singer/songwriter's repertoire. Yet a more introspective side is also on display with the two of the most personal songs he's written to date, "Arrowhead" and "Guitar". Drawing comparisons over the last few years to the likes of Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt and Drive By Truckers, this new albuml proves that Grayson's vision is ultimately as singular as those to whom he's compared. -
