Over the decades he became a central player in the city's legendary music scene, as a guitarist, songwriter, producer, recording engineer, and mentor. After making hundreds of other people's projects sound good and feel great, Niko asked himself, "What would happen if I made a record exactly like I want it, with exactly the people I want to play with?" Chunk of Space Funk is the amazing answer, and it proves just how diverse funky can be... "In Your Face" is a no-holds-barred guitar duel with Eric Gales that levitates beyond the blues. "Like Me" is what Sly Stone might sound like if he grew up in Memphis, with powerhouse vocals by Wendy Moten, Stephanie Bolton and Marcus Scott (Tower of Power's new lead singer), a mind-bending bass solo by Victor Wooten, and a classic Memphis horn section.
