This brand new recording of the acclaimed Robb Johnson double CD 'Gentle Men' is a must-have re-imagining of the original and seminal work, (the original recording has been out of print for many years). Rather than just reissuing the 1997 version, Robb has gathered together a wonderful cast of singers and musicians to take a fresh look at his song suite. Some of these artists were featured on the original recording but they bring to their new roles an additional wisdom that only living with these performances for almost two decades can bring. Roy Bailey is one of those involved in both versions and his singing on the new version possesses a fragile, reflective quality that is quite touching in the context of the lyrics. Also included is a pivotal performance from Barb Jungr, as well as substantial cameos from Jude Abbott, Jenny Carr and John Forrester The new work is available as a double CD with 24pp booklet of lyrics and as a 'limited edition' hardback book containing both the 2 CDs plus Robb's memoir of his two grandfathers (in memory of whom he wrote the song suite), photos and lyrics.

    Double CD featuring Robb Johnson with Roy Bailey, Barb Jungr, Jude Abbott, Jenny Carr and John Forrester complete with 120 page Book, written by Robb Johnson, telling the story of his grandfathers and their families before, during and after the First World War (ie: spans 1893 - 2014). With more than 50 illustrations (b/w and colour) from his personal collection, as well as photos specially taken for the book by his son, Hari Johnson. Lyrics are integrated throughout with an 'Afterword' by the author on the experience of writing his family history and its relevance to the current day. Deluxe casebound edition (9in x 6in, portrait) Limited edition of just 500 copies.
