  • Description

The new album from Nosound featuring former Porcupine Tree drummer Chris Maitland. Nosound return in May with Afterthoughts, their new studio album. For the album, Giancarlo Erra and the band have been joined by the former Porcupine Tree and Blackfield drummer, Chris Maitland. Afterthoughts is the Nosound's fourth studio album, their first since 2009's A Sense Of Loss. That album was described by Goldmine as 'Nosound's most accomplished recording' (4/5) and Prog magazine stated that 'the expression of their loss is indubitably our substantial gain'. Since then Nosound have also released the 2011 semi-acoustic album, The Northern Religion Of Things and the recent EP, At The Pier, as well as playing regular live dates around Europe. Maitland also appeared on At The Pier and his powerful and inventive drumming has added a new dimension to the Nosound dynamic which is sure to impress fans, new and old.

    Description

NEWLY REMASTERED MID-PRICE EDITION OF THE 2013 ALBUM FEATURING PORCUPINE TREE'S DRUMMER CHRIS MAITLAND FEATURING THREE BONUS TRACKS INCLUDING NEW SONG "LETTER TO A POSSIBLE PAST"

Nosound have been regarded by critics and fans alike as one of the most interesting modern Art Rock bands in Europe, inventively combining influences from '70s psychedelia, '80s/'90s ambient and contemporary alternative, progressive and post-rock. Started as a one-man studio project in 2005 by Giancarlo Erra but has since grown into a five-piece band, evolving into something unique, focused and powerful. The music is evocative and intense, with personal songwriting. Influences range from Pink Floyd to Brian Eno, from Porcupine Tree to Sigur Ros, passing through rock and electronic/ambient.

‘Afterthoughts’ is Nosound's fourth studio album, the follow up to 2009's ‘A Sense Of Loss’, which was described by Goldmine as "Nosound's most accomplished recording" (4/5) and by DPRP as "one of the finest releases of 2009" (9.5/10). ‘Afterthoughts’ saw continued support from the press, with Prog describing it as "A post-rock poem as bleak as it was beautiful... it is, in a word, extraordinary" and Popmatters (USA) as "a tour de force of emotion, delicacy, passion, cohesion, and grief-stricken splendour... Few other albums have ever matched its magnificent combinations." (9/10). The album marked a change of direction for the band's sound, triggered by a series of line-up changes including the Porcupine Tree and Blackfield drummer Chris Maitland, forming a sound and lyrical content that was more direct and powerful compared to their previous releases.

This mid-price CD edition has been newly remastered by Erra, along with the rest of the Nosound catalogue, in the build-up to the band's new studio album due later in 2018. It is presented in digipack packaging complete with an 8-page booklet and features the previously unreleased bonus track "Letter To A Possible Past" and two tracks from the ‘At the Pier’ EP, all taken from the original recording sessions with Chris Maitland.
