Description
Humphrey Lyttelton needs no introduction and this CD is comprised of tracks from two LPs from his musically fertile period of the 1960s. It was a strong, very creative band featuring some of the leading players in the Mainstream genre: Tony Coe, Joe Temperley, Jimmy Skidmore, John Picard, Ian Armit and Eddie Taylor. Humph himself was at the peak of his creative and playing powers.
In 1954 Humph made an LP which became a collector's item, "Humph At The Conway" the bulk of this CD is the 1961 "Returns To The Conway". As with everything Humph does, the tunes are interesting, played with drive, swing and subtlety and the CD shows a fine band on very fine form
