Description
The latest in Lake's 'Year' series is another double CD for the price of one.
1956 was a very significant year for Chris Barber's Jazz Band: the single "Rock Island Line", recorded during a 1954 recording session and issued under the band's banjo player Lonnie Donegan's name, entered the charts at no.8 in January 1956.
During 1956 the band's most enduring and reissued track, "Petite Fleur", was recorded but did not enter the charts until 1959.
This CD brings together all Chris Barber's commercial recordings whether by the Jazz Band or Skiffle Groups for the first time.
