Description
A double CD for the price of one containing classic recordings from one of Britain's leading Jazz musicians.
Ken Colyer pioneered Skiffle (taken to fame by his banjo player, Lonnie Donegan). This collection features the last Skiffle recordings Colyer made for a major label. It also contains the very collectable EP, They All Played Ragtime.
There's the rare 1958 Hamburg concert plus a 'live' session never released at the time. Of special interest are the first recordings by a British New Orleans style Brass Band it would be another 30 years before the national music scene latched on to The Dirt Dozen and Rebirth Brass Bands, but Colyer showed the way. The late 50s are often cited as the 'classic' period for Ken Colyer.
