Description
British Traditional Jazz - A Potted History (LACD300) has been LAKE Records' fastest selling CD and this is Volume 3 of the CDs which have followed on from it - AT A TANGENT. This volume focusses of bands which, although very high quality ones, didn't enjoy the big time like the leading bands of Ball, Barber, Bilk, Lightfoot etc. Many of the musicians in these bands did eventually move into the big time and form bands of their own (e/g/ Alan Elsdon), but many were content to stay as semi-professionals. Some, like Graham Stewart's band got a deal with a major label. This collection provides another fascinating insight into the hugely popular Trad Jazz genre of the 1950s and 1960s.
