Goin' To Town In Carlisle '94

In 1994 Chris Barber marked 40 years since the formation of the first professional band under his own name and he undertook a series of concerts both in the UK and on the Continent to celebrate the fact. The concerts proved so popular that they continued until the Autumn of 1996. The concert opened with the original 1994 line-up which included Monty Sunshine and Lonnie Donegan. As Lonnie Donegan's first Skiffle hit came while he was a member of the original band there was a special Skiffle feature. The first half finished with a New Orleans style parade band made up of members of both bands. The other band was the 1994 line-up of Chris Barber's Jazz & Blues Band which was a particularly strong line-up and that band played the second half of the concert. As luck would have it everyone was on top form and it was fortunate that it was extremely well recorded. These seasoned musicians deliver a varied, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable set.
