Featuring works from Grieg’s “Wedding Day on Troldhaugen� to Piazzolla’s demanding “Tango nuevo� and then on to jazz
études by Erwin Schulhoff influenced by the Charleston and blues. The Russian “Shoulder-Blade Dance� by Farkas and Ligeti’s “Bagatelles,� inthe original set for wind quintet, certainly represent a high point, and so does Pierné’s “Introduction et Variations,� one of the rare original compositions for saxophone quartet.
