Words On The Wind
Description
Kerri's thoughts: When I was nine years old, I was gifted at Christmastime with an old Fender guitar. It was the beginning of a love affair that led to my commitment to songwriting and playing music. I begged my parents for over a year for a guitar and before receiving it had been writing poetry. The words seemed to come out of nowhere, in on the wind at unexpected times and when I needed them most. I put the poems to melodies I'd dreamed up while walking along the railroad tracks in the back of our small southeastern Massachusetts home. The songs on Words on the Wind are from those nostalgic days when I turned to music and the artists for comfort during some of the hardest times I've experienced and they always had my back. We are fortunate, especially now in these difficult and ever-changing times, to be able to lean on the lyrics and music of so many of those songs of the past. They continue to speak to the truest part of who we are, songs that will always connect and heal us. I chose to record this collection from my heart. The songs have been with me for years and the artists are some of my favorites. I can only hope I've done them justice as a way to thank those who have paved the way; artistically, musically, and soulfully
