Description
Born and raised in the U.K. and based in Amsterdam, pianist/composer Dominic J. Marshall proved with his first two recordings to be a prodigious and precocious talent. On 'Spirit Speech', Marshall's trio, with bassist Tobias Nijboer and drummer Jamie Peet, evades categorisation, surging enigmatically through jazz, classical, hip-hop, soul, folk and everything in between, into a realm of expression that is uncompromisingly their own.In 2013 Marshall was selected unanimously by a jury of Jamie Cullum, Gilles Peterson and Jez Nelson to perform at the 'BBC Introduces' showcase at Band on the Wall, as part of Manchester Jazz Festival. The live recording was broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
