THE HOME OF SPECIALIST MUSIC Supporting independent labels and artists from across the globe
Two atmospheric works composed by Lynne Plowman in 2017 form the framework of this project: A Field Guide to Pebbles (five short pieces for percussion duo) and Songs of the Sea Dreamer (settings of four poems by Russell Hoban), a song-cycle for tenor and harp.
Working closely with the tenor, Michael Bennett and harpist, Sandrine Chatron, Lynne Plowman has drawn these poems together into a work which tells a story of love, loneliness and the sea. The songs are separated and intertwined with evocative instrumental tracks, including intimate solos for harp and piano and a hypnotic duo for oboe d'amore and harp, Floating Turning Spinning.
The music spans twenty years of Plowman's musical exploration - from playful percussion grooves in A Field Guide to Pebbles to the rippling impressionism of Lullaby for Ianto and a tribute to Debussy in Another Set of Footprints in the Snow.
